Sue Berg
Board President
Sue Berg founded Hoofbeats of Hope with a singular vision: to bridge the gap between those seeking mental wellness and the life-altering healing power of horses. With over two decades of experience in equine advocacy and nonprofit leadership, she oversees our mission to empower professionals and provide direct aid to those in need.
The Journey
Sue Berg’s path to equine therapy was paved with a lifelong dedication to understanding the silent language of horses. Growing up in the rural landscapes of Colorado, she witnessed firsthand the profound calmness these animals bring to the human spirit. Her journey with our nonprofit began with a simple observation: that the most powerful healing often happens without words, through the steady rhythmic breath of a horse and the intuitive bond formed in the arena.
With over two decades of experience, Sue has pioneered programs that integrate mental wellness with traditional horsemanship. Her leadership at Ascend Equine: Hoofbeats of Hope has been instrumental in expanding our reach to underserved communities, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of recovery. She believes that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to 'rise' alongside an equine companion.
Today, Sue continues to advocate for the healing power of the horse on a national level, mentoring the next generation of equine professionals. Her work is a testament to the fact that when we listen to the hoofbeats, we find hope. She invites everyone to join this journey of empowerment, resilience, and deep connection.
